Following a meticulous interrogation of notorious motor vehicle theft suspects apprehended in Nairobi and Nyeri counties, DCI sleuths, on a mission to dismantle syndicates involved in the illicit trade, extended their operations to Nakuru county. Their goal was to apprehend additional accomplices and recover stolen motor vehicles.
In the 58 suburb area of Nakuru city, the team swiftly apprehended Michael Gichuhi Macharia, who was found in possession of a suspected stolen Toyota Vitz with registration number KCW 582Q, believed to have been taken from a Nairobi resident.
In a separate operation, the officers targeted a well-known suspect, Charles Kung'u Kamau, who was driving a silver Toyota Probox without a visible license plate. Further investigation revealed its registration as KBV 958J. Despite Kung'u managing to evade capture, intensive efforts are underway to bring him into police custody, while the recovered vehicle remains secured.
The ongoing operation is part of a concerted effort by detectives to curb the rising trend of car theft across the country."
